Johann Hummel, PhD
Johann Hummel is with the Department of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering since September 2001. He finished his doctoral studies with a thesis about a navigation system for flexible endoscopes and gained reputation as an international approved expert for electromagnetic tracking systems.
During his Schrödinger fellowship at Stanford University he worked on various projects including image enhanced endoscopy, A-mode and B-Mode ultrasound registration and calibration of ’see through’ devices.
He has authored and co-authored over 25 scientific publications in top journals in the field of medical physics. His main area of research interest is detection and correction of soft tissue motion during endoscopic interventions and radiation therapy.
